# 4 Writing Prompt- Halloween Treats

Happy Halloween season, to prepare for the month, why not keep up the writing? Each week in October, we’ll have an additional part for this Halloween special, making it a four-part prompt.

Alone in a secluded house nestled amongst towering trees, you find yourself engrossed in your phone on a late, quiet night. While on it, it makes strange noises and malfunction, before suddenly shutting off. As you find yourself surrounded by darkness, a sudden illumination fills the room as the window glows with intense orange lights. Too bright to make out. You think how strange it is that a blinding light would cast its glow over every corner of your house as you cautiously make your way downstairs. As you pause in confusion, the eerie sounds emanating from the door fill your ears. Fearing an intruder, you hastily retrieve a weapon from your bedroom, but before you can react, the door violently swings open. There inside now. If you can reach the kitchen, you can head through the backyard. But there still might be time before getting a weapon.

In 700 words, explain if you went for the weapon first or tried for the exit while explaining what’s happening in-between your journey while reaching to the backyard…

You reach through the Backyard; and see what is hovering above your house. A radiant object, possibly a ship or plane, piercing the sky, casting a brilliant glow all around. The shape of it is still foreign to you. The more you look, the more you notice the peculiar, distorted figures that appear beyond the blinds. Maybe the neighbors are seeing this too. As you crouch slowly, you feel the anticipation building, and with a burst of energy, you blitz towards the fence, the sound of your footsteps echoing in your ears, before effortlessly hopping over it. Upon entering, you are stunned by what greets your eyes, reinforcing the notion that the woods might be a better choice. Peering through the window, you observe how the light has shifted, casting long shadows onto the neighboring house.

Now is your moment to sprint towards the woods, feeling the rush of adrenaline as you go. Leaving one horror for the next.

Explain in 700 words what you saw in the house that disturbed you and how you carefully fled to the woods without drawing attention to yourself.
